Dan Eberhart

me-foothills-2

A native of Denver, Colorado, Dan was born in 1950, the oldest of Perry and Sandy’s four children; brother Pete, and sisters Medley (deceased) and Eve.  After graduating from Northglenn High School, he joined the third generation of his family to attend the University of Colorado.  Having taking the circuitous route which included a marriage to Diane (McNicholas) Stender in Boston, and many hard knocks as a rugby player, Dan graduated in 1976 with a B.S. in Elementary Education.

His new degree allowed him to embark on a life of travel by landing in Melbourne, Australia for his first teaching job.  Mixed in with their adventures around the continent was the birth of Dan and Diane’s first child, Mariah Lee.  The new family moved back to the United States, ending up in Bath, ME.  After four years of teaching, Dan decided he could not quite measure up to his high standard for what he thought a public school teacher should be, and went to work for L. L. Bean in Freeport.  He left eleven years later with managerial experience and an M.B.A.  During those years, he and Diane were also blessed with the births of Courtney Ann and Daniel Travis.

Following stints in Americus, GA and Research Triangle Park, NC, restlessness once again seized Dan prompting departure from the corporate life and a divorce.  He found freedom behind the wheel of an 18-wheeler.  Stopping at coffee houses along every interstate and major highway across the country, fanned his passion for writing.  His travels frequently brought him through Colorado where passion also blossomed for his current wife, Karen.  The biggest transition in their life together wasn’t their marriage in 2006, but the day Dan came ‘off the road’ to drive a school bus and devote more time to writing.

Quadrangle took fourteen years to write and get published, but the experience was revitalizing.  A Pact with the Living followed five years later.  He now devotes most of his time to writing and managing EberhartBooksandArt.com, when he and Karen aren’t traveling the world from their home in Denver.  He also enjoys Grandpa duty with grandchildren Georgia Blue, Medley and Jacob.
